Along with the rest of the Knysna community, we are all very excited about the first Knysna Film Festival, happening at the end of October 2019. The aim of the five-day festival is to give filmmakers an opportunity to engage audiences about their films.
There will be small pop-up cinemas located across Thesen Island, Premier Resort the Moorings and the Knysna Waterfront. The Knysna Waterfront basin will be transformed into an open-air cinema with a 300” screen. Seating will be available around the edge of the basin, or you can bring your own pool lounger and enjoy the movies from the water. There will be a lifeguard on duty but unfortunately, no under 13-year-olds will be permitted in the water.
You can look forward to a spectacular and diverse range of short- and feature films across an array of genres including drama biography, Africa, arts, comedy, crime, environment, horror, leisure, food, and technology. The final night of the festival will end off with the awards gala event.
Knysna and the surrounding Garden Route region has a diverse range of activities on offer, from nature walks and ocean tours to adventure sports and wine tasting. There are many attractions for the whole family, including the famous Knysna Elephant Park, Monkeyland and Birds of Eden. Nearby day trips can be enjoyed to Plettenberg Bay, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and more.
