A Tree with Deep Roots
The White Milkwood (Sideroxylon inerme) is an evergreen coastal tree found only in southern Africa. It thrives where land meets sea: along dunes, estuaries, and forest edges.
Its name comes from the pale, milky sap, but it is known for much more. The wood is dense and durable, the leaves are thick and glossy, and the small purple berries attract birds throughout summer. Beneath its branches, insects and mosses thrive, and the shaded undergrowth glows green even in the height of summer.

When The Milkwood Collection was established, the name came naturally. These trees were already here, watching over the lagoon and shaping the tranquil character of the resort.
To live “under Milkwood” is to live in balance with nature — sheltered, grounded, and connected. The name also nods to Under Milk Wood, the 1953 radio play by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, a lyrical portrait of village life and human connection. It perfectly expresses what we strive to offer: small stories, shared moments, and the beauty of simple living.
